When the spindle is completely raise, there is no play, but if you pull down on a handle, there comes the play. The main problem is that there is about 1/8 inch of play in the spindle when it's extended. I can wiggle the drill bit in a circle with tons of play. I bought this product from a company called Worldwide Liquidators. I don't know if mine is defective or what, but I don't want to buy another one. Mine is absolutely identical to this model. The press that I got is a Cummins that got relabed as a Pro-Tech. I was really excited about this press but once I got it put together and started using it, I'm horribly let down.
had I known where it was made, I would have bought another brand. does an ok job if your drilling small holes. 5 Speed - Bench Top Drill Press I wondered why they didn't have a name for this product. came with broken stop and run out on the spindle is to much.
I wished I could fine a drill press Smaller so it wouldn`t take up so much room on my loading bench since I don`t need the Tork" OR the High" Speed Mechine. It will OUT~Live Me for what I use it for. I use it on the 760 RPM-Spendal speed and it Works Very Well for what I use it for.

I Bought this drill press to use in my loading room to pre-pair Rifle & Pistol Cases for Loading Ammo. Gun Loading equipment Manufactors , make WAY" SMALLER - Similar equipment to do what I do with it , BUT". Oldham , Mesquite, TEXAS
It`s the SMALLEST mechine I could find to do that type of work. The price of the mechine is the biggest reason I own it to do that type of work.
I didn't give up and I filed a claim with Amazon which resolved the problem with courtesy and professionality (5 stars for Amazon). Please note that they sent me a not working item.ZERO STARS. I purchased this drill press for a low price, but it was not a good deal because it didnt't work at all, dead since the first day. I said to myself "I'm not lucky.", but I was much more disappointed when I called Cummins Industrial for the return & refund; they accepted to pay only for the cost of the return shipping and not for the first shipping.
Top pully cover was a little bent, straightened out fine. If you need to drill a hole and keep it stright on line, this little press should do the job as long as the piece is not over 4-5 inches tall. Shipping was lightning fast. Pretty sturdy, seems to work just great. Very pleased. 3 days. Put it together, (minor assembly) great little drill press for $39 bucks (shipping was ~$26.00) you can't go wrong.
